Nashville, Tenn. Nov. 9, 2010… Shawn McDonald will release his fourth album with Sparrow Records, Closer, on March 22, 2011. The current radio single, “Closer,” is also available to consumers today with its retail debut on iTunes ®. To purchase the single, visit http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/closer-single/id398828568.

Closer comes as the newest recording from McDonald in three years. The album offers themes of hope and redemption through the storms of life. Though many of the songs were written by McDonald, he also teamed up with the likes of Ben Glover (“The Lost Get Found” and “Before The Morning”). Produced by Christopher Stevens (tobyMac, Sanctus Real) Closer contains 13 songs from the singer/songwriter such as “Don’t Give Up,” “Storms,” “Rise,” and “Better Way.”

“Sometimes God has to break us down in order to build us into the art pieces he intends for us to be,” explains McDonald. “I am very excited to bring you a very honest and vulnerable record about the breaking of the human condition and the healing of a mighty God. These songs have been and still are being used in my life as a tool in the healing and beckoning of my heart as I fumble my way to Christ. I hope and pray that these songs can and will be used in your own journeys, your own brokenness and in the lives of many others.”

The first single, “Closer,” released to radio in late Oct. and has already received spins from AC and CHR stations nationwide including Air1, WAYG Grand Rapids, Mich., WNAZ Nashville, Tenn., WHPZ Indianapolis, Ind. and KXOJ, Tulsa, Okla. McDonald is continuing on a promo tour with stops in Seattle, Chicago and other cities across the country. “It is very evident to us that stations nationwide are excited to have Shawn and his music back on the airwaves,” adds Grant Hubbard, Vice President of National Promotion at EMI CMG. “This support has been echoed by the strong, early response we have received from the record’s first single of the same name, ‘Closer.’” McDonald is also touring the west coast in the month of Nov. For a complete list of tour dates, visit http://www.shawnmcdonaldmusic.com.

Hailing from Oregon, Shawn McDonald entered the music scene in 2004 with Simply Nothing. The singer/songwriter has since released two additional recordings Risen (2006) and Roots (2008). His fourth release from Sparrow Records, Closer, is set for a Mar. 2011 debut.
